West Virginia Management & Safety Solutions offers flexible onsite or online delivery options to meet all your training needs.
Our workplace safety training programs include:
Hazard Communication
Industrial businesses are required to have a written hazard communication program and must provide employees with additional training regarding site-specific chemicals. These trainings should include the recognition of the purpose and importance of a hazard communication program, awareness of common physical and health hazards associated with hazardous chemicals, identification of chemicals and their hazards, through labeling, markings, pictograms, and warning practices, and identification of the purpose and components of a Safety Data Sheet.
Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP)
Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) are viruses which are carried in human blood and other body fluids, which can cause disease in people. In the workplace, transmission is usually through injuries from contaminated sharp objects that penetrate the skin, or from splashes into the mucous membranes of your eyes, nose, or mouth, or through exposed openings or abrasions in the skin. This training includes how bloodborne pathogens are transmitted and the risks they present, identification techniques used to prevent exposures to bloodborne pathogens, and actions you should take if you suspect you may have been exposed to a bloodborne pathogen.
Fire Extinguisher Safety
Fire extinguishers are one of the most reliable ways to put out a fire. If employers expect workers to use fire extinguishers, hands-on training must be provided. This course includes differentiating between the different types of fire classes, recognizing how employers must maintain, inspect, and store fire extinguishers, selecting the correct fire extinguisher to use on different types of fires, recalling factors that must considered before fighting a fire safely, and explaining how to properly use a fire extinguisher to put out a fire.
Emergency and Fire Preparedness
The most common workplace emergency is fire, and the best way to prevent injuries and deaths from fires is to prevent fires in the first place. OSHA recommends that employers be proactive by educating workers about fire hazards and explaining what to do in a fire emergency. The Emergency and Fire Preparedness course includes information about the dangers associated with fire and other emergencies, requirements for emergency and fire prevention plans, the guidelines for fire prevention, the importance of emergency exits, and the necessary actions to take in response to emergency alarms.
Reasonable Suspicion for Managers and Supervisors
Substance abuse problems in the workplace lead to more accidents, lower morale, and a much higher absentee rate. The purpose of the alcohol and drug testing regulations are to prevent accidents and injuries that are the result of misuse of alcohol and/or drugs. It is important for supervisors to understand how to deal with an employee who may be impaired by alcohol and/or drugs. This reasonable suspicion training course is designed to help all people appointed to supervise employees on their reasonable suspicion testing responsibilities.
Drugs and Alcohol in the Workplace
The problems of substance abuse cross all industries and environments, and impacts workplace safety, productivity, and quality. Drug and alcohol use and misuse in the workplace can pose many potential risks for organizations and their employees, managers, and others. This course provides a basic understanding of what substance misuse is and the workplace safety issues associated with both legal and illegal substances, including the warning signs of a substance misuse problem and constructive ways to respond.
Effective workplace safety training can help prevent accidents, injuries, and illnesses by increasing your employees’ awareness of potential hazards and how to avoid them. This training also ensures that employees have the knowledge and skills to respond appropriately to emergencies and to use necessary safety equipment when needed.
